Is AI making us Dumb?
All of us have seen robots throughout our lives in movies, science fair but we never thought of having an AI answer to all of our needs at a perfect prompt. Artificial Intelligence was never accessible to each of us, but now from a single calculation, mail/message draft to content writing and life advice AI is walking right by our side.
But is it really walking beside us or leading us to our doom? AI is one of the things made by man but will not maintain the same hierarchy. Nowadays, people are using AI for a single menial task and not learning from the answers, not even bothering to develop a skill from it, whereas AI is using our grammatically incorrect prompts, making sense of our meaningless prompts, understanding the intent, and giving a structured answer. It works on understanding the prompt and collating the data from several pdf, books, articles, and research, combining the latest information into the answer you want.
However, have you ever thought about what will happen in the long run ? For mere calculation, we are using AI rather than deep-diving into the complexity of brain functioning. So are we humans getting smarter or are we just letting the AI do all the hard?
So the real question is “Are we getting smarter, or are we just letting AI do all the smart work”?
We all should know at some point in time AI was generating human images with 6 fingers and some other errors too. Also, if we all are using AI so conveniently, what if a medical student uses AI to understand Anatomy, plan treatment protocols, or even write their research papers. While this seems smart on the surface what if AI fails to understand your patient’s pain. What if it cannot truly decide like a human trained in a clinical setting.
Where will AI lead us, it will be the death of curiosity in the coming years, given the fact children will ask their parents about the world and rather than explaining stories and concepts or drawing a real experience, the kids will have a glowing screen to answer their questions?
AI is not dangerous it’s smart but it only becomes dangerous when we stop being smart ourselves.
How should we move forward?
This blog is not about hating AI or abandoning its usage. It’s about using it responsibly and smartly. Ai can be a very good assistant when you are leading the way, but it should never become a substitute for your own thinking.
- Use AI to cross-check, not replace your thoughts
- Use it for building framework, don’t skip the learning part though
- Let your brain lead
- Always run a fact check with other verified researches
Always remember no artificial intelligence can replace human instinct, empathy, or clinical intuition, it can never replace or replicate the art of being a human being.
